Wild Spaces - boat supported walking in East Greenland

All the different aspects of East Greenland take some getting to know, and this boat-supported walking tour to the Kulusuk region really gets to grips with this remote Arctic wilderness and the people that live here.

Many people want to experience a true wilderness, but fear that this often comes with the discomfort and heavy loads traditionally associated with Arctic expeditions.  This need not be so.  On this 8 day tour we shall move through the area by boat, establishing basecamps in some of the most beautiful places we know and exploring the area on foot during day walks from these basecamps.  Since all our food and equipment will be moved by boat, there will never be a need to lug heavy loads around the place.

Our basecamps will be in two contrasting areas.  One at the foot of a stunning valley on the shores of a fjord, cut by winding salmon streams and famous amongst the Inuit for its fishing.  The other is in the midst of an Arctic masterpiece of power and beauty, sited at the head of a fjord on the moraines of a huge sea-level glacier with towering peaks all around.

With time also set aside for exploring the area's hunting settlements, this tour offers an insight into the real Greenland that is far off the tourist track.
