Summer Tours to Greenland 2009

Towering mountains in South Greenland

Our summer tours to Greenland show that few places show such a marked transformation between the seasons.  In the Land of the Midnight Sun, the Arctic summer is brief but intense, and the snow and ice clears to reveal a landscape of colourful tundra and bright alpine flowers on the shores of clear blue, iceberg-strewn fjords.  The dogsleds are laid up for the season, and the Inuit hunters turn to boats and kayaks as their main means of transport.  As the sun climbs higher, temperatures can be surprisingly warm.  This is a great time for boat trips and walking.

We have a number of tours available for the summer in Greenland.  These tours run regularly between June and September from either Copenhagen or Reykjavik. Please remember that if you would prefer something different or if you have particular interests, then please get in touch and we can design a bespoke trip to meet your needs.

West Greenland

Here you can also experience the life and culture of the Greenlanders north of the Polar Circle. The Kangerlussuaq area has a unique landscape and the offers the best chance of seeing Arctic wildlife like musk oxen and reindeer.

East Greenland

Angmagssalik and Kulusuk
The remote geographical location of East Greenland, and the great difficulty of reaching this area in the past have meant that the village of Kulusuk and the town of Angmagssalik are and have always been relatively isolated in relation to the rest of Greenland. Old traditions have survived here amongst the rugged grandeur of the East Coast, and this is the perfect destination if you want to experience traditional Greenlandic culture and the original drum dance.
