The location of Ilulissat is breathtaking - all year huge icebergs rising more than 100 metres above sea level are stranded in the ice fjord just south of the town. These icebergs are all products of the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere; The Ilulissat Glacier gives birth to 20 million tons of ice every day and the area has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
