Day 1 Arrival in Greenland. A spectacular flight from Reykjavik over the Denmark Straits and the icebergs off Greenland's rugged coast. Having landed at Constable Point transfer to the hunters' village of Ittoqqortoormiit and settle into guesthouse accommodation.
Day 2 Morning departure on board our boat and head out westwards into Scoresbysund and its icebergs. There is a chance that we may see Minkie Whales and Narwhals in the fjord. Our first stop will be Danmark Ø - a really beautiful spot where Inuit ruins may be found. It also played an important part in the early exploration of the area. There is a natural harbour and a fresh water spring next to the hut in which we will stay. This is a great spot for a barbeque, and our guides will bring along traditional Greenlandic food such as Musk Ox steaks.
Day 3 The boat continues through Fønfjord and passes Røde Ø - a remarkable red cliff rising out of the sea. Spectacular mountains surround the fjord and the shores bloom with grasses, bilberries and all sorts of Arctic flowers. We camp at the shores of Harefjord - a beautiful area with the possibility for short trips into the mountains. A lot of drift wood can be collected nearby to build a camp fire.
Day 4 Our exploration continues through Øfjord to Sydkap. The huts here were once used as a trading station. This is a great place for walking and also fishing! The guides will bring a fishing net on the trip and try to catch arctic char for the barbecue or for the smoke oven.
Days 5-6 Making our way back to Ittoqqortoormiit, the boats follows the shore and will make a stop at the hut at Gurreholm - another place steeped in the history of the early explorers. We arrive back in town on the evening of day 6.
Day 7 A day in Ittoqqortoormiit to explore the local area. In the evening we'll enjoy dinner in one of the houses in town sampling Greenlandic delicacies and listening to ancient Greenlandic tales.
Day 8 Helicopter flight back to Constable Point to connect with flights back to Reykjavik. Once in Iceland, transfer to guesthouse accommodation for an overnight stop. Individual departures the following day.
