A Greenlandic Dog Sled journey in the Scoresbysund area of northeast Greenland. Explore the World's largest fjord system and surrounding mountains by dog sled, travelling with Inuit hunters.
Flying into Ittoqqortoormiit, home to one of Greenland's true hunting societies, there will be time to explore this remote village and meet the people that live here before heading out for our 6 day dog sled adventure. Travelling across the sea ice, through spectacular mountain passes and over wild glaciers provides a thrilling experience of a real Arctic wilderness.
Scoresbysund is in the heart of the 'Arctic Riviera', famed for its long periods of clear and settled weather. It's wildlife is abundant and we may see a number of Arctic animals including foxes, seals, maybe Polar Bears, and spectacular bird colonies on the coastal cliffs.
This is such a peaceful way to travel, and it is fascinating to learn about the lives of the hunters and experience their expertise with the dogs. Overnight accommodation will be in old hunters huts or tents on the sea ice.
This tour promises a real insight into northeast Greenland in winter, its people, wildlife and extraordinary beauty.
