Dog Sled Journey Itinerary

28/03  Arrive at Keflavik International Airport, Iceland and transfer to guesthouse accommodation in central Reykjavik for an overnight stop.  Time to explore the city, depending on when you arrive.

29/03  Fly Reykjavik to Kulusuk, East Greenland  Flights are with Air Iceland.  A spectacular flight over the icebergs of the Denmark Straits in a small Fokker 50 plane, and great views of Greenland’s coast and the pack ice as we get closer. Landing on the gravel strip in amongst the mountains is quite an experience.  You will be met at the airport by our in-country team and taken to your accommodation in the village.  There will be time for a look around the village, and your guide will give you some briefings about the trip and information about the area.

30/03-03/04   Into the Fjordlands  We'll spend the next 5 days exploring the vast frozen fjord system that dominates this area.  We'll use the fjords as our highways, dog sledding between spectacular glaciated islands and staying over night in comfortable camps.  A visit to one of the other hunting settlements in the area may be possible.  There will be plenty of stops during the day for hot drinks, snacks and photography, and our Inuit friends may wish to hunt to provide food for the dogs.  The route taken depends on local ice conditions, but either way it promises to be extremely beautiful and breathtakingly remote!  We plan to arrive back in Kulusuk on the 3rd and will settle back in our accommodation for hot showers and a good meal.

04/04   In Kulusuk  A day in Kulusuk to reflect on the trip and soak up the warm hospitality of the village.  There are also some beautiful walks to be had in the area.

05/04   Fly from Kulusuk, Greenland, to Reykjavik, Iceland and transfer to guesthouse accommodation in central Reykjavik.

06/04   Transfer to Keflavik International Airport in time for departures to home country
