South Greenland is a beautiful land of lush vegetation, mild weather and fertile valleys. Narsarsuaq's airport is the gateway to South Greenland, and the town is situated at the end of Eric's Fjord close to the original settlement of Eric the Red, and the beautiful Qooroq glacier.

Eric the Red's Viking Ruins
Cross Eric's Fjord by boat and step ashore at the sheep breeding settlement of Qassiarsuk, situated on the very spot where Eric the Red settled in the year 985 and named his farm "Brattahlið". Visit the ruins of Eric's farm and some nearby Eskimo ruins.

Eric the Red's Viking Ruins and Tasiussaq
The first part of this excursion is as descirbed above. Having visited Qassiarsuk, walk 8 km (transportation can be arranged at a surcharge) along a mountain track to Tasiussaq - one of the most beautifully situated farms in South Greenland. We enjoy a packed lunch and visit the sheep breeders to learn about farming at the end of the world.

The Village of Igaliku
By boat through the ice-filled Eric's Fjord to Itilleq where we go ashore next to some of the biggest agricultural fields in South Greenland. We walk 6 km (transportation can be arranged at a surcharge) to Igaliku - a beautiful village where the ruins of the Vikings' Cathedral and the Bishop's farm are situated. After lunch in a small cafeteria we walk through the village back to Itilleq and travel by boat back to Narsarsuaq.

Qooroq Ice Fjord
Greenland's Inland Icecap produces 250 million tons of icebergs every summer and their final journey begins when they break off the glaciers into the sea. One of these glaciers is the Qooroq Glacier. We cruise between the icebergs towards the glacier and may be able to stop the engine and let the boat silently drift amongst these amazing surroundings.

Hike to the Icecap
This excursion demands that participants are able to walk at least 6 km through mountain terrain. We go by bus as far as the road allows and continue by foot through the 'Flower Valley' where colourful sub-arctic flora can be seen. Lunch is taken at the top of a 300 m high mountain from which we have a fantastic view over the glacier and the magnificent Inland Icecap. For participants in good physical shape it will be possible to walk down and touch the Icecap.

By Helicopter to the Icecap
A spectacular way to see Greenland. Fly by helicopter to Bredefiord where a ground stop makes it possible to leave the helicopter and enjoy the fantastic scenery. Stunning views across the beautiful ice-filled fjord and to the north the Inland Icecap. Alternative routing depending on the weather.
Please note: This excursion is only operated when the helicopter is available and when there are a minimum of 15 participants. It is also weather dependent.

Alluitsup Paa by Helicopter
Cruise by helicopter at low altitude over South Greenland's fjord system to the small fishing village of Alluitsup Paa. A guided walk through the colourful village gives the chance to experience the more traditional side of life in Greenland. Lunch at a local restaurant.
Please note: Helicopter capacity can alter destination Alluitsup Paa to Qaqortoq or Narsaq. This excursion is only to be booked on a "seat-available" basis a maximum of 24 hours prior to departure. Pre-booking and confirmation is possible at surcharge DKK 1200 per person.

Narsarsuaq
Guided tour through Narsarsuaq where the guide points out location of the different amenities and explains the settlement's story from the transformation from military airbase to a modern Greenlandic village. From the top of the Signal Hill we have a magnificent view over the plain and the fjord. Visit and entrance fee to the local museum also included. Duration: 2 hours (approx.)

Short Hike to the Ridge
Drive by bus to the beginning of a ridge where we find a great variety of flowers and plants. From the top we have an amazing view over the Flower Valley, the river, the fjord and the Narsarsuaq Glacier.
