Independent Travellers in Greenland

We recognise that many of our clients prefer not to join a set itinerary and would rather just do their own thing, experiencing Greenland and meeting the people at their own pace.  Such an option has proved popular with artists, photographers and students who have their own agendas and need the time and space to enjoy their interests and fulfil their aims.

However, it is often necessary to have a little help with making the arrangements to get to Greenland itself, organising accommodation and transport, as well as some background information and support whilst you're there.  Greenland Explored can provide all of this and will ensure that your travel plans go as smoothly as possible, and see that your objectives in Greenland are met in the best possible fashion.

Our services include:

Our Expertise
Should you choose to travel with us, we provide a valuable advisory service providing information on the best areas and times of year for you to visit, depending on what  you would like to do and see.

Transport and Travel
Getting to and from Greenland can be a little complex, so leave these arrangements to us.  We can arrange flights for you all over Greenland, as well as transport and transfers once you are there.  This can include boat travel in anything from small fast hunting boats to larger passenger boats, through to traditional Inuit dog sleds in winter and spring, and even helicopters.

Excursions
If there is anything more that you would like to see or do in Greenland, then we can organise a wide range of activities and excursions from dog sledding with local hunters in spring, to exploring remote fjords and fishing by boat during the summer.

Greenland Expeditions
Our sister company, Greenland Expedition Specialists, provides all aspects of support for independent expeditions heading for Greenland, from logistics and equipment hire to area information, maps, photos and help with permits.  They also organise a full programme of guided mountaineering and sea kayaking expeditions, as well as Icecap Crossings.  Have a look at Greenland Expedition Specialists' website at www.expeditiongreenland.com

Accommodation
Everybody has a different budget for their travels, and we have a number of options to reflect this; from wild camping to the very best hotels, we can arrange the details.  We provide accommodation in Reykjavik and Copenhagen – the usual stop over places for people travelling to Greenland (an overnight stop is usually required due to flight timings).

If you need accommodation in Greenland we have several options.  There are a number of relatively modern hotels, as well as guesthouses and self-catering hostels.  However, perhaps the best experience can be gained from staying with a family in one of the villages.  Accommodation in a Greenlandic house is simple but warm, comfortable and very hospitable.  It provides a rare insight into the day-to-day life of a traditional hunting community and is truly a complete break from back home!

What to do next
Please contact us.  Wherever you interests lie or however you would like to experience Greenland please get in touch and we would be more than happy to discuss your requirements and provide you with some options.
