Our founders, Matt and Jon, have been exploring the Arctic at all times of year for the past 10 years, always seeking new places, new adventures, new routes and new experiences. Their travels eventually brought them to the east coast of Greenland where they met whilst exploring the wild and unclimbed mountains of this region.
Further expeditions to East Greenland forged a firm friendship, and some of their best memories of these trips were of their time spent in the local communities and villages, living with hunters and learning about their lives. An Arctic expeditioner invests years of training and experience in order to travel safely through such an environment, and it was humbling to see how the Inuit community had adapted to it with such skill and ingenuity, using just the meagre materials that they had to hand, and to see how aware they were and what an understanding they had for their environment.
We felt that a lot could be learned from this country and these people, and the idea of bringing small groups of people to Greenland to experience this special place with us was born. We wanted to create tours and itineraries during which we could share our knowledge with our clients, and that really got to grips with the area’s landscape and culture, going beyond the ‘standard’ tourist packages and showing Greenland in its true light. Importantly, we also wanted to work directly with the region’s people, and we now work in partnership with some of these hunters – they have been here all their lives and are undoubtedly the best people to show us their homeland.
Our passion and enthusiasm for Greenland, and our feelings as to what makes Greenland unlike anywhere else, are brought to you in our selection of tours so that you can share them with us.
